The only thing better than photographing the rare occurrence of a triplet birth is photographing a triplet birth at Woman’s Hospital, for one of the sweetest families I know. Kate and Matt already have three little ones at home. Needless to say, when the family found out that they were expecting triplets, things got interesting!
The incredible team at Woman’s Hospital did a phenomenal job of getting Kate and the girls through the c-section. Mama got to see all of her babies right after they were safely delivered. Watching mom and dad take a few quiet moments to bond with each one of the girls just after they entered the world was a beautiful thing to see!
This pregnancy was a bit of a scary one, for this family. Kate was carrying a set of twins, plus a single baby. One of the twins was known as a “parasitic twin”, taking more than her share of nutrients. This caused her sister to have some problems thriving and growing. No one was completely sure how healthy the girls would be when they were born! In fact, little Addy didn’t cry at all when she first emerged, which led to a lot of worry from mom and dad.
Immediately after their arrival, the triplets were brought to the resuscitation room adjacent to the operating room. The doctors and nurses at Woman’s Hospital are always very committed to ensuring the health and well-being of both mother and babies! Kate was brought into the room to see them and touch them as soon as possible. Although the babies needed a little bit of assistance, and spent some time in the NICU, seeing the babies right away was key. This ensured the best recovery process for both mother and babies, in my opinion!
Hiring an experienced birth photographer is very important, for a lot of reasons.
You want to be sure that the photographer you hire is experienced in many different situations! Sometimes a birth can move very quickly, and circumstances can be unpredictable. Having someone by your side who can keep their cool in any scenario is key.
Here are a few of my favorite images from the arrival of Team Triple A!
