Baton Rouge Birth Photography | The Twins A and E
I adore photographing births – they’re always–without fail–totally and wonderfully powerful. Emotions run high, nerves start buzzing, and love swells to fill the room to bursting the second a brand-new little life takes its very first breath.
There’s something so magical about that moment when a baby is born – and it never ever fails to fill me with awe. One moment, you’re waiting with bated breath on your baby’s arrival, and the next they’re just here – and no matter how much you love your partner or your older children or the rest of your family, your heart in that moment expands just that much more, and the happiness makes you think you’ll just burst.
I love photographing births, because I remember feeling that way with my own littles – and it’s amazing to be a part of that experience with someone else, while documenting it for them. It makes me so happy when clients want birth images, because these are some of the most emotional and impactful images you’ll ever have to look back on. A parent never forgets how happy they were when their children were born, but in the excitement and emotion (and, let’s be real: the drugs), little details tend to fade – like just how tiny a new little hand is cupped around Daddy’s finger, or the look on your partner’s face as they met their child for the very first time.
That’s where I come in. So when Lacey and Steven asked me to photograph the birth of their twins, I was alllll over that, y’all. I photographed their adorable daughter Lila a while back, and I couldn’t wait to get her reaction to being a big sister, too. They’re all such a beautiful, loving little family, and I’m so happy for them, the new little family of five. <3
So, without further ado – here are some of my favorites from Lacey and Steven’s (and Lila’s!) birth session.
Love that look that Lacey cut Dad. It’s almost time!
Annnd, Everett makes his entrance!
And Anadelle makes 5!
There’s no greater eternity than the one between when a mother gives birth, and the time she’s told her babies are healthy.
Weighing in!
Dad’s been footprinted
Love, LOVE this moment – you can see the joy on mom’s face as she realizes her baby is just fine. <3
I loved that Steven just couldn’t get enough of either of them. He must’ve had whiplash by the end of the day.
Look, ma – matching wrist bands!
Mom, meet Everett. Everett, meet Mom.
Big sister!
They HELD HANDS. The twin bond is amazing to witness, truly.
Comparing chin dimples.
