Engagement photography sessions in Baton Rouge are some of my very favorites. I adore photographing downtown, because there is such a variety of different “looks” available within such a short walking distance! Morgan and her honey were an absolutely perfect couple in every way, this night. We started off at the foot of the state capitol building. We got some really cute shots there, incorporating their home state’s step!
The sunset was pretty magical, while it lasted (before the clouds moved in), so we took full advantage of the light while we had it.
We really wanted some fun, unique shots at this session, though, so we quickly moved on to incorporate a lot of different settings and different looks!
Did you know that they don’t have magnolia trees in Ohio? Or, like, anywhere else other than Louisiana, really. Maybe I made that last part up, but I at least know that they don’t have them in Ohio, ‘cuz Morgan said so. 😉
One of my favorite shots from this session is the really dramatic shot of these two under the grand magnolia tree. Clouds were rolling in, and rain was starting to sprinkle. I love that these two just rolled with it! Their relaxed attitude gave us a really cool image that’s definitely not something everyone has on their fireplace mantle.
Yet another example of why you shouldn’t fear the rain!
After that, we decided to incorporate the state capitol building in a few shots, so that they’d always have a kick-ass memory of their time in Louisiana. That building is pretty amazing while all lit up at night, no? A totally iconic Baton Rouge engagement image.
We ended the session in the abandoned parking garage – which sounds kinda weird and is probably a place that not a lot of people utilize, but how cool do those shots look?! The overall session look we got was cool, and a little grungy, and above all–totally unique!
Check. It!
