I love a good maternity session in Baton Rouge, y’all.
I mean, I love a good maternity session anywhere, really. But Baton Rouge has some of the best spots for these sessions! The Hilltop Arboretum is a little spot off of Highland Road with all kinds of options. In one small spot, you’ve got a cool bridge, lots of beautiful native greenery, AND bamboo!

A maternity session is a great way to celebrate your time as new parents with photographs – even if a birth session isn’t your thing. As much as I adore birth, I know not everyone wants photographs of it. A maternity session is a great in-between option for those who may birth-session-hesitant. You get to dress up, get your hair and makeup done, and look so freaking majestic, seriously.
I’ve had two babies of my own, guys. Believe me, I KNOW that you don’t feel your absolute hottest when you’re pregnant. But you DO look great, I promise – just check out how Chris looked at Courtney during this session. He absolutely adored his wife, and was so proud of her, the whole time I was with them.
Pregnancy is hard work, and it does all kinds of crazy and amazing things to your body. How cool is it that we can grow an entire human, ladies?! It’s a feat worth documenting, in my humble opinion.
You know what’s also worth documenting? The look on your partner’s face when he looks at you in one of these sessions. Sure, he’s kinda leery of the whole “let’s take pictures” thing. Pretty much all guys are, really. But, he loves you to itty bitty pieces, is so proud of you for being such a kick-ass mama already, and totally does NOT think you look like a whale. Even though you kinda think you do.
That baby boy of theirs is gonna love these photos one day, when he’s old enough to see them. <3
