Adoption Photography Gonzales Louisiana | Baby Colton
Helen Keller once said, “All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.”
By that measure, Colton has always, always been a part of this family–even before they met for the very first time. He’ll never remember a time when he didn’t belong to Charles and Kayla. But I LOVE that he’ll have photos from this day, the day of his official adoption, to remind him how fiercely those who loved him most fought for him.
Adoption is often a long, difficult, and draining process. Even though it has the world’s best reward at the finish line, it’s impossible to run this race alone.
So this day wasn’t just Colton’s adoption day. It was everyone’s adoption day! So many of those who loved this little boy most deeply showed up to watch an emotional judge make Colton officially a part of them all. With a single swipe of pen on paper, a change of name marked the formal closure of one story… and the beautiful beginning of another.
Even if he won’t remember the love that he was showered with this day, I hope that Colton always feels it, when he looks back at these photos.
He’s an easy kid to love. Hell, *I* love him, and I’ve only ever been in his physical presence a handful of times.
Loving is the easy part, though. And as much as a family is built on love, the bones of that house are made up of hard work, and sacrifice. The sharing of burdens, the digging deep even when you’re exhausted… the dogged determination to cross that finish line. That’s what love is made of, and that’s what I hope Colton always carries with him from this day.
This crew always loved him, but love just hits different when it’s backed by this much hard work, topped with joy.
All that to say, I’m so honored that I got to be a part of this adoption story, from start to finish. And I look forward to photographing this sweet little family for years to come! ♥
Now, join me (and pull out a hankie or two) in viewing some of my very favorite photos from this adoption photography session in Gonzales!
I watched this little family grow from the day they posted their wish to adopt. I work with Colton’s grandmother and have shared many ups and downs along the road. Colton came home the day before my granddaughter was born. And I’ve enjoyed watching him grow this past year and a few months. Thank you for the wonderful pictures and the support you gave to his whole family!
Oh, how wonderful that this sweet family has these wonderful keepsakes! All of the joy and love shines in these photos. Congratulations to the whole family!
