Natural Hospital Birth at Woman’s Baton Rouge
Man, I cannot even describe how proud of this mama I am! Gelisa contacted me about doula support for her birth with her first child, and then decided she’d also love to have birth photography. We had some great chats throughout her pregnancy about what she wanted her delivery to look like, and formulated her birth plan together. She was really determined to go as medication-free as possible, and we worked together to give us the very best chance of success!
Her partner was so supportive and wonderful throughout Gelisa’s labor. We alternated with providing physical support as well as emotional support–and I think that we made a pretty good dream team! 🙌
Even though Gelisa had a family history of complicated deliveries due to high blood pressure, and had high blood pressure herself, her medical team at Woman’s Hospital was 100% on board with doing everything possible to let her have as medication-free a birth as possible. And in the end, it all came together in the absolutely magical, fantastic birth Gelisa had dreamed of!
Her little boy was born after a (relatively) few hours in labor, into a family just brimming with love and welcome for him. I’m SO pumped to have been there with this crew for these amazing memories!

That Sonic cup in the corner there will always be an iconic memory for us! Dad didn’t know what to do with his hands right as the moment of birth was approaching…so he grabbed a quick tater tot snack, and the whole room cracked up. 🤣
