Rosedown Plantation in St. Francisville is one of my favorite places to take engagement photos! I mean…just check out this scenery, you guys.
The gardens are always stunning, the arched grotto is the cutest thing ever, and there are so many opportunities for stunning images here.
PLUS, Rosedown Plantation has one of my favorite qualities in an engagement session location – a rain plan!
Even though the grounds are gravel and potentially messy if rain hits, there’s a sweeping, gorgeous front porch on the house that makes for a great covered spot. We had to utilize it for this session, when it started raining a few minutes in!
Luckily, these two are the coolest, sweetest of people – and nothing was about to stress them out on their engagement session. <3 We just ran for the hills when the downpour began, and continued to photograph on the porch.
Before we knew it–as often happens in south Louisiana–the rain quickly moved on, and we were able to wander the plantation grounds a bit more. I adore all of the Spanish moss that’s just absolutely everywhere at Rosedown, so of course we had to incorporate it!
There’s a little grotto on the grounds of this location – an archway that’s been under construction for what seems like forever. I was so excited when we arrived and discovered that it had finally been renovated and was ready to photograph. It’s rocky, and stony, and made for such a cool backdrop for April and William.
Speaking of William…
He was such a good sport! It’s not uncommon for men to not *love* the idea of getting engagement photo sessions done. So, if you’re one of those – no worries! He ended up having fun–despite himself. 😉 I mean…there may have been promises of after-session beer involved, buuut… we got it done! <3
