Baton Rouge Wedding Photographer | The Value of Getting Ready Photography

Are you considering the value of getting ready photography? Maybe you’re starting to get all of your ducks in a row and gathering photography quotes, and now you’re wondering what it’s for.

I hear this question from couples a lot. “Well, I don’t know that I really need photographs of me getting my hair and makeup done,” they tell me.

And you know what? They’d be totally valid, if that were all that getting ready photography was about.

The thing is, though, that it really is about more than that. Hair and makeup is pretty, sure. But, these are also the last hours that a couple has with their family and friends as a single person.

Often, that reality takes a while to sink in, and when it does…well, let’s just say that I’ve captured some fantastic memories for my couples over the years.

The getting ready photography time is one of the calmest parts of the day. Pretty soon, you’ll barely get any time with your family and friends, one-on-one. The last moments you have with those closest to you before you get hitched are going to be really special.

These images can also be really fun! I’ve photographed groomsmen playing poker and drunken video games. I’ve photographed the girls getting up to all kinds of shenanigans, and the last-minute panic when something goes missing.

These times are often when true relationships are on full display, and there’s no way of predicting that these moments will happen before your big day.

You don’t know that you’ll cry when your mom sees you in your wedding attire for the first time. And it’ll come as a total shock when your partner’s siblings play that last-second prank by hiding the rings.

You just never know, until you know.

And without a photographer there for you…well, let’s just say that my job is to document your entire day’s story. Even the ones that may make you mad, or frustrated, or absolutely crazy at the time. These moments will be the ones you’ll remember fondly, and laugh at later in life!

So, invest in these moments. They matter, just as much as any other part of your day!
