The Oaks Ponchatoula Wedding Photography | Lea-Ann and Ryan
I feel like as time goes by, these clients of mine just get more and more perfect. I knew this wedding was gonna be SO MUCH FUN from the first time I met these two at their engagement session.
And mannnnnn, it did *not* disappoint.
We had all of the emotion, all of the great moments… and an absolutely stunning venue at The Oaks in Ponchatoula. (If you missed it, check out Lea-Ann’s bridals at the same venue, HERE!) Even though it rained for the ceremony and things had to be moved inside, we got some absolutely gorgeous indoor ceremony photos. Check out that amazing chandelier! 😍
And it kinda goes without saying that the party was *epic*. These guys knew how to TURN UP! We had a hilarious bouquet and garter toss, lots of fun dancing, and ended the night with a first for me… a conga line exit! How cool is that?!
Read on to hear about and see some of my very favorite moments from this wedding day at The Oaks in Ponchatoula. ♥
Sometimes the getting-ready portion of the day is one of my favorites. There’s time for cool shots, and spending time with good friends. Lea-Ann got both, here, with one of her bridesmaids doing her makeup!
This moment cracked me up, and was classic Ryan. He *may* have forgotten to write his wedding letter until the last minute. 🤷♀️
Getting ready photos are not just about the hair and makeup. These moments are some of the last that you’ll spend with friends and family as a single person! That can lead to a lot of emotion, and I am HERE for that!
Last minute groomsmen scrambling never fails to crack me up!
A little rap battle, a little sing-a-long session…you know, everyday wedding shenanigans.
Notes wishing the bride well on her wedding day, even when a crazy global pandemic means they can’t be there. 💔
Please note one of this wedding’s #KidsAtWeddings participants in the left hand corner. 😂 Also please note that Lea-Ann remembered her note well in advance of the wedding day, RYAN. 😂😂😂
I’m totally getting behind this non-traditional first look trend, you guys!
I love that Lea-Ann had a first look with her dad, step-dad, and brothers!
Not gonna lie – that slow clap from the brother on the far right made me snort-laugh.
Okay, let’s talk about capturing real moments on the wedding day. Shall we? This moment right here is a perfect example as to why I *NEVER* set anything up, or fake anything on a wedding day. It’s why I don’t hang dresses from trees. It’s why I don’t believe in staging or setting up anything elaborate. Because REAL MOMENTS like these are enough. They’re what matter the most. And hanging dresses from trees makes for a pretty photo, but it doesn’t make for a meaningful one.
These are the photos that you’ll feel in your soul for years to come, and they will always, *ALWAYS* be my number one priority.
I love that Lea-Ann will always have these moments with her mom, holding her as she’s overcome with emotion!
And hey, look – I even got a “detail” shot in there! When I say that I will photograph your details organically… this is what I mean. Make those photos mean something! ♥
One day, this little bit isn’t going to be so little. And this photo will have SO much meaning!
Kids at weddings are always weird, and I am ALWAYS happy about it. 😂
Never lose that fire of yours, kid. You come down that aisle as a flower girl *however you want*! 😂
I *adore* that Lea-Ann had both her dad and step-dad walk her down the aisle! This is what family is all about!
This is gonna be me one day, losing it as my kid watches the love of his life walk down the aisle towards him. 😭 #notready
Never change, Ryan. Never change.
Dad checking out her new bling!
I adore that these two did a mother daughter dance, and a dance with each step-parent as well!
Well, THIS was hilarious. When the groom’s in safety…he’s got a PLAN!
HERE for this, man! A conga line as an end of the night exit!
If it rains on your wedding day, DON’T YOU WORRY! We’re gonna pull out the stops and make sure you get kick-ass portraits no matter what!
Ryan was trying hard to win the “favorite groom ever” award all night. 😂
